LANGUAGE ARTS
READING: We are starting a new genre in reading -Science Fiction will get kicked off the last week of October. The class will begin to read and blog about The Giver. I look forward to comments and questions.
WRITING: This month we are writing ABC books about a non fiction topic chosen by students. They must choose a topic in Science or History. This is an academic look at a topic that will be taught in 8th grade. Students will include 3 facts with each word/term in their ABC book. I look forward to conferencing with students on their writing after MEAP testing is completed.

Friends that share THINGS!!

More Things....
While cleaning up my RSS feeds, I revisited the flckr and snapfish and other photo sites that I use. I played around with some of the possibilities that Big Huge Labs. I loved the idea that one of the bloggers suggested to use the Magazine cover as an assignment to culminate or to include in a presentation. I tried it out and worked pretty cool. I've had You Tube videos for my students in class, and used so much of United Streaming for education tools that I think I get in a rut with my projects.

Practice Vocab and Give FREE Rice!

Check out the link on the side to donate Free Rice
I donated over 1000 grains of rice in about twenty mintues. How far can you get? Send me a posting if you tried it. It is a pretty cool site - it allows you to get a word wrong, but comes back to it and asks you again. Yea!!

Shelfari: A book club online
As I experiment with the online class lessons that I'm taking, I have to upload blog ideas and things to try in my classroom. This Shelfari site is one of them. It is really like a personal library that we can recommend books to one another and write reviews. There are tons of ways to use this in LA. Smile. I just need to decide which way!! HA!
